Vallebona is situated some 6km north of the coastal resort of Bordighera and is surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, mimosas and brooms.
The typically medieval layout of the village Villabona with its’ winding mews, small squares, tightly built houses and roof covered arcades (“carrugi”) is still widely intact. One of the formerly four gates is still recognizable and on the walls of an older church of which the campanile still exists, the San Lorenzo church was built in the 15th century.
Today’s Vallebona has a good infrastructure with food shops, a butcher, two restaurants, a bar, a post office and a regular bus service to Bordighera and the weekly market.
The beach is only 4km away and the centre of Sanremo is only half an hour away. Daily excusions to Seborga, Dolceacqua, Apricale, Monaco, the cote d’Azur or the Maritime Alps are always an attractive option.
