It therefore offers plenty of historic places of interest, pre-historic sights, churches, castles, palaces such as Dolceacqua with the ruins of the Doria castle or the medieval bridge once famously painted by Monet, Ventimiglia and it’s Roman theatre dating back to 200 A.D., the church San Michele from the year 1100, the Benedict cloister of S. Fruttuoso in Camogli, the grottos of Trolano. The summer is one big festivity and the village fetes on the Piazzas, the music festivals with celebrated artists as in Cervo, the world-class fireworks in Dolceacqua or the pop music festival in Sanremo, invite you to join in. The legendary sporting club in Monte Carlo attracts world celebrities from the music scene and the opera in Monte Carlo, is interesting for all lovers of the opera. There are a large number of events, museum, galleries everywhere, such as Europe’s largest aquarium in Genova or the museums on the Cote d’Azur like the Picasso museum (Antibes), the Renoir Museum (Cagnes-sur Mer), Museum Matisse (Nice), Foundation Maeght (St. Paul de Vence).
