This special event can be witnessed at the beginning of each year, right here, at the foot of the Maritime Alps and is again proof for the mild climate of this region. Up to six weeks before any snowdrop will work it’s way through the cold and snowy soil in northern Europe, the northwest part of Italy will already display a blaze of colours, which make will make your heart beat faster. Underneath the azure blue sky, whole parts of the country show off the glimmering yellow of blossoming mimosas, coupled with the green of the palm trees and the many whites, reds and pinks of the camellia, opening it’s buds at this time of the year. The deep colours and the mild air invite you as early in the year as January, to explore the coast and the valleys on long walks. There is plenty to discover and the region is refreshingly empty as the season only starts in March. As a tourist, you can lean back and observe how the area is getting ready to welcome their guests, due to arrive a little later in the year. The late winter has it’s particular charm and is a perfect time to take in the beautiful countryside.
