The vintage car rally is not the only sporty event in spring. The Yachting Club San Remo, founded in 1903 under the name Compagnia della Vella, organises every year a major Dragon-Regatta. The Dragon is an open top sailing boat seating 3 people, which has been an Olympic sailing boat for many years before being replaced by more contemporary designs. The constant winds such as the Levante and the less frequent Scirocco, make Western Liguria a very attractive sailing resort. This year, the famous Italian San Remo Dragon’s Cup will take place from the 27th – 29th March.

The entire area surrounding the yachting club will be turned into a paradise for everybody enjoying a taste of the maritime flair. 

There are sailing enthusiasts everywhere, exchanging news on the weather and sailing conditions and once the race has started, the bay of Portosole is littered with white sails. Tourists and locals alike come to watch the spectacle happening outside the harbour walls. Despite being a race of international calibre, amateurs can also join in the fun. The registration fee is 250 Euro and the best three contestants will be given prices as well as the best Italian boat and the fastest classic Dragon boat.
