The Race: San Remo Rallye Storico

If you enjoy looking at stunning vintage cars, the San Remo Rallye Storico is an event not to be missed. The three-day race is in it’s 24th year and will take place on April 2nd, 2009. The race-track measures 270 km and is divided into two parts, involving 11 special tests carried out over a distance of 92 km. Many visitors come to the event each year simply to catch a glance of their dream car driving at full speed. You may well enjoy the sight of liquid metal and polished brass as well as the full sound of the old engines of these beautifully maintained vintage cars.

Participating cars have to be build prior to 1971 and are divided into five categories (C-G). Cars first registered between 1918 and 1930 start in Category C; cars registered between 1931 and 1946 belong into category D; Category E lists cars registered between 1947 and 1960; Category F involves cars registered between 1961 and 1966 and the youngest cars fall under Category G and would have been registered between 1967 and 1971.

This is more than just a vintage car parade as the organisers have listed the Rallye Storico as an official race for the Italian and European classic car Championships. The race is therefore highly competitive and the drivers are mainly professionals. Maybe you too own a well-kept vintage car you would like to take to the races.
