Here on the Riviera, the months of October, November and December are very special months. Most of the tourists have returned home and the region is much calmer with empty beaches inviting for long walks on the waterfront. The air is clear and the weather still beautiful and mild. Sea swimming in Liguria is often possible well into November and the colourful leaves are a joy to the eye whilst autumnal scents and tastes take the hearts of Riviera fans by storm.

During the summer months the days and nights may be warm but are never unbearably hot. The Ponente Coast (west of Genova to Ventimiglia) has been well known for its mild climate and beauty since the end of the 19th century but despite its popularity it never feels overrun. From mid July to the end of August the Riveria of Flowers with its many narrow beaches, the nearby Maritime Alps and its network of hiking paths of all levels and the historic villages and towns are keen to share their cultural heritage and events. In the following we would like to inspire you with a few suggestions.

With this newsletter, we would like to take you on a little tour through Ventimiglia – the last town on the Riviera of Flowers before the French border. Ventimiglia is situated right on the coast, west of Bordighera and Vallecrosia and has affiliated strong ties with this region over many years of eventful history.
The river Roia separates Ventimiglia’s old town “Alta” from the rest of the city. A number of bridges connect the various parts of town.
The urban flair of Ventimiglia with its 25,000 inhabitants reflects the two cultures and its proximity to the Côte d’Azur. Ventimiglia has so much more to offer than just the mild climate Liguria is known for.

Liguria has always been popular not only with artists and writers, but also with many visitors who are planning their holidays here, a short visit or a lifelong stay. Sometimes different desires cannot be arranged and the result is a ‘patchwork decision’. Compromises and conflicts with your loved ones are not pre-programmed in our beautiful region – if you look for beach and regeneration, disco and new contacts, shopping or museum visits, chic or casual, dawdling and hanging around or physical activity – in Liguria all this can be reconciled. No other time zone but only a different climate without jetlag and you will enjoy everyday life, treat yourself good! Play with the children, visit a restaurant or go dancing, go on trips and excursions, you can photograph or film, sit by the fireplace and look into the fire, observe sunrise and sunset, stars and clouds, wade in the water, climb, cycle or motorbike and much more.
