Property description
Rising majestically over the rooftops of the charming medieval village Perinaldo in Liguria’s hinterland, this unusual property occupies a majestic spot. Once part of a fortress and lovingly renovated with much attention to detail it combines history with contemporary living comfort. To this day the traces of the past can be spotted in its vaulted cellar rooms.
With a living space of 385 m2 split over five floor levels, the house offers plenty of opportunities for various design concepts. The approx. 190 m2 panoramic terrace opens stunning views over the majestic Maritime Alps, and the sea shimmering on the horizon.
The property comes with a number of vaulted cellars and a rustic Taverna coming to 120 m2 in total dimensions. The rooms present a perfect opportunity to create additional living space, charming guest accommodations or an artist’s workshop. The flexibility provided by the overall layout makes this property interesting for a large family or for commercial use such as a bed & breakfast. Another option requiring little effort would be to divide the property into two units.
Casa Castello
The main unit measures approx. 270 m2 and currently offers four spacious bedrooms, four fully equipped bathrooms, two kitchens, two living areas and various utility rooms.
Upon entering the house, the pleasant ambience presents itself: A welcoming dining room with vaulted ceiling and open fireplace connects with one of the well-equipped kitchens. From here one enters the separate private wing with two well-proportioned bedrooms with walk in wardrobes and en suite bathrooms. An elegant marble staircase leads to the upper floor level with one further bedroom and family bathroom. Also on this floor are a light flooded living room with wood fired stove and an open living and dining area with kitchen- The large windowpanes allow for plenty of light to flood in and offer sweeping views over the surroundings. A separate room is currently used as bedroom.
An open staircase connects with the 90 m2 panorama terrace, which is a particular highlight of the house offering a peaceful place to relax in, entertain family and friends and enjoy dining al fresco.
Casa Castello is connected to the local gas mains and a gas boiler provides pleasant warmth during the cooler months of the year. Two separate cellar rooms measuring 39 m2 overall accommodate water tanks with a capacity of 1,000 litre fresh water.
Casa Torre
The smaller of the living units measures 115 m2 and offers one bedroom with en suite bathroom, a generous living area and a guest toilet.
A staircase leads from the bright ground floor entrance hall to the second floor with an open light flooded living area adjacent to a 100 m2 terrace. Plans have been made to build a new kitchen still open to design ideas by the new owner. The floor above offers one charming bedroom with a private bathroom. From here there is access to two further roof terraces. The upper terrace happens to be the highest point of the village and is situated right next to the church tower. From here, spectacular 360° views over the Maritime Alps, the village and the Mediterranean Sea can be enjoyed.
Situated on the lower ground floor, which is part of the old fortress are a number of vaulted cellar rooms, a wine cellar and a rustic taverna measuring 81m2 overall. The rooms offer plenty of potential to create charming living space or further utility rooms.
Preparations have been made to connect this unit to the gas mains; alternatively a gas boiler fed by gas cylinders and a wood fired stove provide additional heat.
